• Students are required to learn, practise and apply mathematical algorithms, routines and techniques by undertaking investigative tasks involving the use of mathematics; solving problems set in unfamiliar situations and in real-life situations. Students are required to use CAS calculators.

SEMESTER 1: This unit involves the study of Statistics: covering the collection, analysis and presentation of univariate data; Matrices: performing operations and real life applications; Sequences and Series: solving arithmetic and geometric problems.

SEMESTER 2: This unit involves the study of Statistics: covering the collection, analysis and presentation of bivariate data; Shape and Measurement, covering Pythagoras’ Theorem, perimeter, area, total surface area and volume; Trigonometric ratios and applications of non right angled triangles.

    Self enrolment
  • Mathematical Methods, Units 3 & 4 consists of the study areas; Functions and Graphs, Calculus, Algebra and Probability. Students are expected to be able to apply techniques, routines and processes involving rational and real arithmetic, algebraic manipulation, equation solving, graph sketching, differentiation and integration with and without the appropriate use of computer algebra system technology (CAS), as applicable.
