• This course aims to develop students as communicators effectively conveying ideas and information by appropriate means such as two dimensional and pictorial drawing, symbols and typography. Students will use freehand, instrumental and computer drawing to design and produce their work. Skills in the development of graphic design, problem solving and technical applications are a focus of this unit.

  • Art, 3 dimensional, aims to develop students’ artistic and technical skills by looking at a variety of styles. The practical component focuses on drawing and 3 dimensional construction. Emphasis is also placed on theoretical exercises incorporating techniques and developing an understanding of how artists work and materials they use.

  •  Art 2D aims to develop the student’ artistic and technical skills by looking at a variety of styles in different cultures. The practical component focuses on drawing, painting and printmaking. Emphasis is also placed on theoretical exercises based on folio tasks and oral reflection on individual work.

  • This course is an introduction into black and white photography. Students will complete a series of photographic assignments based on the darkroom and the SLR camera. Students will learn compositional aspects of photography by researching past and present artists.
  • Year 10 Music will cover performance and theory/aural over the semester. Performance techniques will be developed through two solo performances and one group performance. Students will develop music language through theory and aural testing. Contemporary and traditional music will form part of the study.

  • Year 10 Theatre Studies focuses on Realism.  The students are required to undertake research tasks on the principles and practice of Realism and Stanislavski's theories of acting.  Practical tasks aim to develop both a knowledge of, and skills in, character development and performance techniques.  Students are required to work collaboratively to develop an ensemble performance.  Skills in acting as well as other stagecraft areas such as lighting, costume, props and set design will be developed.Students are required to maintain a regular workbook in which they respond to performances and reflect on their own progress in the subject.
